Manufacturer: Sun Pharma
Pharmaceutical name: Pramipexole
Pack: 10 pills (0.5 mg)
Pramipex is a medication used to manage Parkinson’s disease and Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). The active constituent in this medication is Pramipexole. It is effective in alleviating symptoms associated with Parkinson’s, such as tremors, rigidity, and movement difficulties.
Pramipex has received approval for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. While it can reduce the intensity of symptoms related to Parkinson's, it does not provide a cure for the illness. Pramipex aids the brain's functionality and addresses symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, and impaired motor control.
Avoid using this medication if you: have an allergy to it or any of its components, are pregnant, are nursing or planning to breastfeed, have narcolepsy, an enlarged prostate, are under the age of 18, have urinary issues, or suffer from a severe bladder infection.
Inform your physician if you: have blood pressure or kidney issues, experience serious mental health problems, have significant heart conditions, or suffer from intense tremors or Dyskinesia.
The dosage of Pramipex may vary based on several factors, including age, gender, drug allergies, and the severity of the condition. Your physician will determine the appropriate dosage after a thorough examination. Always adhere to your doctor's instructions for optimal outcomes. Take Pramipex only as prescribed. Do not alter the dosage, initiate, or discontinue usage of Pramipex without consulting your physician. Always complete the prescribed course.
Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water. Do not crush the tablet. Follow the instructions precisely when taking Pramipex. It is advisable to combine Pramipex with a balanced, calorie-controlled diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Taking the tablet on an empty stomach may increase the likelihood of nausea or sickness.
Administer the tablet at the same time each day to prevent missing a dose. This should become a routine until your doctor advises you to discontinue Pramipex. While Pramipex manages the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, it does not eliminate the condition. Use the medication for as long as your physician recommends. Excessive use of Pramipex may lead to poisoning effects, requiring immediate medical attention. In such cases, visit the nearest healthcare facility or contact your physician promptly. If you forget a dose, skip it and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose for the missed one.
Notify your physician as soon as possible if you experience any of the following symptoms: hallucinations, headaches, nausea, abdominal pain, heartburn, leg swelling, vomiting, fatigue, high blood pressure, mild drowsiness or sleepiness, and weight loss.
